DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT

BBQ Notebook by Holy Smokes BBQ Co

You can delete your data from BBQ Notebook at any time. There are two options depending on what you want to remove.

OPTION 1: DELETE INDIVIDUAL COOKS OR RECIPES

You can delete any cook or recipe directly from within the app:

  1. Open the app and find the cook or recipe you want to delete
  2. Tap to open it
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete
  4. Confirm the deletion

Deleted entries are removed from your device and from Cloud Firestore immediately. Photos attached to deleted cooks are removed from Cloud Storage at the same time. This cannot be undone.

OPTION 2: DELETE YOUR ENTIRE ACCOUNT

To delete your account and all associated data from our servers, send an email to:

Subject: Account Deletion Request: BBQ Notebook

Include the email address on your account, however you signed in (Google, Apple, or email and password). We will confirm by email and delete the following data without undue delay, and within 30 days at most:

  1. Your sign-in record and profile: the Firebase Authentication account itself (email, sign-in provider and user ID), plus your display name, photo URL and friend code
  2. All of your cooks: meat, rub, wood, temps, weather, outcome notes, and any other cook data stored in Cloud Firestore
  3. All of your recipes: saved rubs and sauces
  4. All of your photos: removed from Firebase Cloud Storage
  5. Your friend connections: removed from both your account and your friends' accounts

This is permanent. Once your account is deleted, your cooks, recipes, photos, and friend connections cannot be recovered.

LOCAL DATA

Data stored on your device (localStorage) is not affected by an account deletion request. To clear local data, go to your browser settings and clear site data for holysmokesbbqco.com, or uninstall the app.

WHAT WE KEEP

Nothing tied to your account. When your account is deleted, all data associated with it is permanently removed from Cloud Firestore and Cloud Storage. We do not retain backups of deleted user data. Usage analytics already collected by Google Analytics are not linked to your account; if you ask, we also file a user-deletion request with Google Analytics for the device identifier the analytics used.
