CHANGELOG
BBQ Scorecard by Holy Smokes BBQ Co · Version History
v3.1.11
June 10, 2026
DESIGN
- Launcher icon size tuned down a notch — the previous version pushed the logo all the way to the edge; this restores a small breathing room so it sits cleaner under round and squircle launcher masks
v3.1.10
June 10, 2026
DESIGN
- The BBQ Scorecard launcher icon is now noticeably larger and edge-to-edge — no more thin white buffer around the logo on your home screen
- Icon background now matches the logo's warm brown so the design reads as one continuous mark under any launcher mask shape
v3.1.9
June 9, 2026
FIX
DESIGN
INFRA
- Profile photos no longer show the broken-image icon when Google's photo CDN fails to load — you now see your initials in a circle instead, the same way friends and leaderboard entries fall back
- The Android app finally has its own BBQ Scorecard launcher icon on your home screen and app drawer
- Renamed the top-left "Home" link to "About" and made it work properly inside the Android app
- Brand loading screen replaces the black flash on launch
- Website restructured — BBQ Scorecard now lives at holysmokesbbqco.com/scorecard, BBQ Notebook at /notebook, and the parent brand at the root. No app-side changes — same scorecard, same data, same accounts
- Internal: build system split so the Android app and the web site can evolve independently
v3.1.5
June 6, 2026
INFRA
- Android app is now smaller and harder to tamper with — enabled R8 code shrinking and resource removal
- Crash reports in our Crashlytics dashboard now show readable function names and line numbers, so we can ship fixes faster
- No user-visible changes
v3.1.4
June 6, 2026
PERFORMANCE
INFRA
- Big performance push — landing page now scores 95 on both mobile and desktop (was 50 mobile a week ago)
- Switched the rendering engine from React to Preact — same code, smaller footprint, faster startup
- Self-hosted fonts replace the Google Fonts CDN call — one less round trip, fully cacheable, no third-party dependency
- Firebase library now loads in the background after the page paints — the scorecard appears noticeably faster on first visit
- Hero logo now ships in AVIF, WebP, and PNG — browsers pick the smallest format they understand
- Real user performance metrics now feed back to us via Firebase Performance Monitoring — helps us know when something gets slow on real phones, not just our test setup
- Native crash reporting (Android) via Firebase Crashlytics — when something does go wrong, we know about it without you having to email
- Structured data added so Google Search can show richer cards for the app
v3.1.3
June 5, 2026
FEATURE
FIX
SECURITY
- Friend requests now require both sides to accept — your reviews are no longer visible to anyone who could guess your code
- Fixed photos disappearing after app updates — auto-restored on next sync, never wiped from cloud again
- Example review and example cook no longer reappear when filters are active
- New "Share with friends" toggle on cooks and recipes — private by default
- Friend codes are now 6 characters for new users (existing codes still work)
- Internal: cryptographically secure random IDs, stricter database access rules, hardened Android backup behavior, tighter Content Security Policy
v3.1.2
June 4, 2026
FIX
- Fixed weather auto-fill not populating humidity on Android
v3.1.1
June 4, 2026
FIX
DESIGN
- Correct logos on each screen — Holy Smokes on landing page, BBQ Scorecard on restaurant side, BBQ Notebook on cook side
- Larger logos on home screen (150px)
- Long press on a review or cook card to delete it
- Wood type is now multi-select — pick multiple woods for pellet blends
- Reordered cook form: Smoker Type, Fuel Source, then Wood Type
- Auto-fill weather from nearest NWS observation station — tap "Get Current Weather" to populate temp, wind, and humidity. Fields stay editable.
- Fixed wind speed conversion — was showing 3.6x too high
